Care guide

Made to last. If you let it.

A Djala wrap is built to outlast everything - but it will only do that if you treat it right. Silk and pashmina are robust fibres. They reward a gentle touch and punish a careless one. Here's everything you need to know.

Hand-washing a Djala silk scarf in cool water

The golden rule

Cool water. Never wring.
Shade, not sunlight.

๐Ÿ’ง

Washing silk

Hand-wash in cool water with a pH-neutral, silk-specific cleanser. Never use regular detergent - the enzymes break down the protein structure of silk over time. Rinse thoroughly in cool water until water runs clear.

โ„๏ธ

Temperature matters

Never use warm or hot water. Silk is a protein fibre and heat causes it to shrink and lose its lustre permanently. Cool water, always.

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

Drying your scarf

Never wring. Lay flat on a clean, dry towel, roll it up to absorb moisture, then unroll and lay flat to dry in shade. Direct sunlight fades silk. A well-dried scarf should never need ironing - simply shake it out while damp.

๐Ÿ”ฅ

Ironing if needed

If ironing is required, use the lowest silk setting and always iron on the reverse side with a pressing cloth. Never iron directly on printed areas.

๐Ÿงด

Perfume & products

Apply perfume, oils, and body lotions before putting on your scarf - never directly to the silk. These products contain alcohol and oils that stain silk and are very difficult to remove.

๐Ÿ“ฆ

Storage

Store flat or loosely rolled in the cloth bag your Djala piece arrives in. Avoid hanging for extended periods - this can stretch the weave. Keep away from direct sunlight and humidity.

๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Washing pashmina

Pashmina is even more delicate than silk. Hand-wash only in the coolest possible water with a wool-specific cleanser. Treat it like you'd treat cashmere, because that's exactly what it is.

๐Ÿงน

Pilling on pashmina

A small amount of pilling on pashmina is normal - it means the fibres are real and alive. Use a cashmere comb gently after washing. Never pull at pills or you'll thin the weave.

๐Ÿ’ผ

Travelling with Djala

Your scarf is your most versatile travel companion. Fold it loosely and tuck into the cloth bag. Avoid putting it in a compressed packing cube - it will crease. A loose fold in a side pocket is ideal.
